This course is ideal for first-timers who are eager to learn to craft pottery on the wheel.

This is a private studio with only space for 2 students at the time giving an excellent opportunity to learn.

You'll get a full hands-on experience, gaining expertise in wedging and prepping the clay for throwing, centering the clay, creating basic cylinders and other small shapes, trimming and finishing pots, and applying glaze.

After just four weeks, you will have created 6-8 crafted pieces. Perfect for those with no prior pottery experience.

OH&S Requirements:

• Please wear closed-toe shoes, NO sandals or thongs please. Comfortable clothing and nothing you are scared to get dirty (clay washes out, but it's best not to take chances)

• Long nails and pottery don't mix! Please make sure yours are trimmed short for the session

• A safety briefing on the hazards of working with clay will be conducted at the commencement of class.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE POTTERY EXPERIENCE:

An old towel. An Apron, Close shoes, All long hair has to be tied back, no long nails. A good amount of patience and a positive attitude.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A fun and a bit messy experience. Gaining an insight in the process of making pottery.

These sessions are for 2 students only and one tutor to ensure rewarding experience.

Your own dedicated potters wheel.

 PRICE INCLUDES

All tuition, use of a potters wheel, tools & clay.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

People with back problems or arthritis may find the wheel experience difficult.

You will get wet and dirty so old clothes will be required.

Completed items will be held for 6 weeks for collection. Due to limited shelf space. If not collected 6 weeks after notification of ready to collect, your pieces will be donated to the local op-shops.

Kindly note these sessions are popular and full payment is required in advance through the online booking system. The fee is non refundable unless the session is cancelled by Healesville Pottery.

If, for any reason you may want to re-schedule a session, you must notify Healesville Pottery no later than 7 days prior to the booked date and time.
