  • 1 Oct| 5:30pm - 7:30pm Glazing Session

🔆

Join this hands-on beginner-friendly course designed to introduce you to the beautiful process of wheel-thrown ceramics. Over 4 times (9 hours), you’ll learn the essential skills of wedging, throwing cylinders, trimming, decorating, and glazing your own handmade pottery. (For 18yo+)

Course dates:

🌀 Week 1 | 2 hours ( 5.30pm - 7.30pm)

Learn how to wedge clay, find the center it on the wheel, and begin throwing your first cylinders. A gentle, supportive introduction to the foundations of wheel work.

🌀 Week 2 | 2 hours  (5.30pm - 7.30pm)

Build on your skills with more practice throwing. We’ll explore shaping small vessels and bowls.

🌀 Week 3 | *3 hours ( 5.30pm - 8:30pm)

Time to trim your pieces, attach handles, and decorate using coloured slips or Japanese tissue transfer. A creative and rewarding session!

*Please note: 1 week break inbetween classes to allow time for drying and bisque firing to prepare for glazing week.

🌀 Week 4 | 2 hours ( 5.30pm - 7.30pm)

🎨 Glaze your finished pieces.

All pieces will be fired and ready for collection approx. 4-5 weeks after the final session.

This course is perfect for total beginners or those wanting a refresher. Small group setting (max 3 people) for lots of individual attention.

After just four weeks, you will have created 6-8 crafted pieces. Perfect for those with no prior pottery experience.

What to Know Before You Join

What to Bring:

– An old towel

– An apron (optional but helpful)

– Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or thongs)

– Hair tied back!

– Short nails! Sorry! Long nails and clay does not mix well.

– A good dose of patience and a positive attitude

What to Wear:

Expect to get a bit muddy! Wear comfy clothes you don’t mind getting dirty — clay does wash out, but best not to take chances.

Health & Safety:

A quick safety chat will be held at the start of your first class. Pottery involves repetitive motion and leaning forward, so it may not suit those with back issues or arthritis.

What to Expect:

– A relaxed, fun (and slightly messy) creative experience

– Small group size – max 3 students per class

– Step-by-step guidance across all 4 weeks

– All materials, clay, tools and tuition included

Finished Work:

You’ll choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired. Items will be ready around 4-5 weeks after the course ends. You’ll receive a message when they’re ready to collect. Please pick them up within 6 weeks — after that, uncollected pieces will be donated due to limited shelf space.
