2 Hour Beginners Experience of the Pottery Wheel

About this experience
Have you always wanted to try the potter's wheel but never had the chance? Get your hands dirty and experience the joy (and challenge) of throwing on the potter's wheel.
During this fun two-hour session, you will learn the process of pottery making.
The session will start with a safety briefing and chat about the process, followed by a quick demonstration of throwing a pot on the wheel. You will then get to jump on the wheel yourself and get stuck into centering clay, pulling the walls and shaping your very own ceramic pieces!
The clay will be prepared for you to maximize your time on the wheel. Due to the slow nature of the pottery process, your pieces will be trimmed and glazed by Julia after the session.
You may select 2 of your ceramic pieces to be glazed and fired by Julia.
They will be fired twice and ready for collection approximately one month after the session.
OH&S Requirements:
- Please wear closed-toe shoes, NO sandals or thongs please. Comfortable clothing and nothing you are scared to get dirty (clay washes out, but it's best not to take chances)
- Long nails and pottery don't mix! Please make sure yours are trimmed short for the session
WHAT TO BRING TO THE POTTERY EXPERIENCE:
An old towel. Close shoes, All long hair has to be tied back, no long nails. A good amount of patience and a positive attitude.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A fun and a bit messy experience.
These sessions are for 2 students only and one tutor to ensure rewarding experience.
A 2 hour session within the pottery studio.
Your own dedicated potters wheel.
To keep 2 pieces of work that will be fired and glazed for you.
PRICE INCLUDES
All tuition, use of a potters wheel, tools & clay.
Firing for 2 pieces of work.
Glaze colour selection from sample range.
ADDITIONAL COSTS:
If you require your finished work to be posted to you this will be at an extra charge.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
People with back problems or arthritis may find the wheel experience difficult.
Any items produced, left for glaze and firing will take approximately 4 weeks to process. You will be notified by email or SMS once they are ready for collection.
Completed items will be held for 6 weeks for collection. Due to limited shelf space. If not collected 6 weeks after notification of ready to collect, your pieces will be donated to the local op-shops.
*** PLEASE NOTE:
A valid email and mobile phone number are required for the participant in order to receive a confirmation closer to the scheduled date. When booking for a friend, please include their name and contact information as a note in your reservation. Thank you.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Kindly note these sessions are popular and full payment is required in advance through the online booking system. The fee is non refundable unless the session is cancelled by Healesville Pottery.
If, for any reason you may want to re-schedule a session, you must notify Healesville Pottery no later than 7 days prior to the booked date and time.

Should you feel unwell or have cold or flu symptoms for your experience booked I would require you to please make a reschedule of your booking. Please contact me to arrange a reshuffle. As I work for myself I try my best to stay well as I do not have the luxury to have any sick days.
The Studio ensures every effort is taken to guarantee the survival of your work through the unpredictable ceramics process. However, the Studio can not be held liable for potential losses or explosions due to thick clay walls in the kiln firing.
